| MASSIVE
construction has been taking place along the Engineering Sports
Complex near the multi-level carpark building, and the space
between the Main and the Central Library Buildings since the
early part of April.
The construction of the Alumni Covered Walkway and the Alumni
Park is expected to be completed in time for the opening of
the AY 2006-2007. These structures are part of the fund raising
projects for the UST Fourth Centennial.
The Alumni Covered Walkway is being constructed along the
Sports Complex near the multi-level carpark building, while
the Alumni Park is being constructed on the space between
the Main and the Central Library Buildings. During the Grand
Alumni Homecoming held at the Manila Hotel on April 29, 2006,
Rev. Fr. Melchor Saria, O.P., Vice Rector for Finance, informed
the alumni of these projects and invited them to donate. Donations
for the Walkway start at P25,000.00 and for the Park, donations
start at P 1M.
Each Walkway donor’s name, degree and year of graduation
will be enshrined at the marker, and the Park donor’s
name will be inscribed at the base of the giant sculpture
by Ramon Orlina. Donors will be acknowledged in the various
publications, and will be invited during the enshrinement
of their names and the formal blessing of the structures.
On a related development, the Plaza Benavides in front of
the Main Building is likewise being constructed.
